Eleven people were reportedly killed on Monday in Zaranga village in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

A resident of the village who, on Monday, spoke to PUNCH Online on the phone but did not want his name in print because he was not authorised to speak to journalists said Boko Haram invaded the village in the early hours of Monday, shooting and burning houses.

“For now, 11 dead bodies have been recovered. Many people are still missing. Search teams and security personnel are in the forest searching for the missing people,” he said.

Another resident said that his wife and two other family members were among the dead bodies recovered.

“My wife and two of my family members were also killed during the early morning invasion of my village,” he said.

When PUNCH Online called the Adamawa State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, for confirmation several times, there was no response.

As of the time of filing this report, he had yet to respond to calls put through to his phone.
