Super Eagles Arrive Lisbon Ahead High-Stakes Friendly With Portugal
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have arrived in Portugal ahead of their international friendly against the Portuguese national team, who have already secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Fresh from their successful outing at the Unity Cup in London, the three-time African champions were held to a 2-2 draw by Poland in an international friendly played in Warsaw on Wednesday.
Led by head coach Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles touched down in Lisbon on Thursday as preparations intensified for Sunday’s highly anticipated clash.
The encounter will provide another valuable test for the Nigerian side as Chelle continues to assess his squad and fine-tune his team ahead of upcoming competitive fixtures.
Portugal will use the match as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while Nigeria will be aiming to build on their recent performances and maintain momentum against one of Europe’s strongest teams.
The friendly is scheduled to be played on Sunday in Portugal.
