Nigeria Governors Decry Maiduguri Suicide Bombings, Call For Lasting Solutions To Insecurity
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has come forward to condemn the multiple suicide bombings that occurred on Monday night in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Disclosing their displeasure in a statement signed by the chairman of the Forum and Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, on Tuesday, the forum described the attacks as evil and unacceptable, adding that the incidents were a reckless waste of human lives.
The governors went on to sympathize with the people of Borno State over the ugly development while urging security operatives to ensure that lasting solutions are created to curb insecurity in the region.
The forum equally pledged its support to work with security operatives in ensuring that violence and crime are drastically reduced in Nigeria.
The statement read, “Our condolences and sympathies are with the people and government of Borno State on this sad development. We stand in firm solidarity with them, and will continue to work with the Federal Government to totally defeat terrorists in any part of the country”.
“We condemn the Maiduguri cowardly attacks on civilians and government offices, and we reassure our security forces of our continued support for the operations to end this menace.”
