Lagos Taskforce Impounds 134 Motorcycles
The Lagos State Taskforce has stepped up enforcement against unlawful commercial motorcycle operations, seizing 134 motorcycles during coordinated operations across major parts of the state.
The enforcement exercise, carried out in two stages earlier in the day, was designed to address traffic infractions, improve road safety, and tackle security risks associated with illegal okada activities.
Speaking on the development, the Director of Public Affairs of the Lagos State Taskforce, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, said the second operation followed an initial morning sweep, reflecting the agency’s determination to maintain sustained enforcement against offenders.
According to him, the operations spanned several strategic locations, including Obalende, Falomo Underbridge, Coastal Road, CMS Roundabout on Lagos Island, as well as 2nd Rainbow, Mile 2 Bridge, Five Star, Ladipo Bus Stop and Cele Bus Stop along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway.
Abdulraheem explained that many of the arrested operators were found riding on prohibited routes, disrupting traffic flow and creating disturbances on major highways and adjoining roads.
He confirmed that 134 commercial motorcycles were impounded during the exercise, adding that normalcy was restored in all the affected areas.
The taskforce reiterated its resolve to continue enforcement actions across the state until full compliance with traffic regulations is achieved.
