BREAKING: Sanwo-Olu Presents N4.2trn 2026 Budget Estimate Before Lawmakers
The governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday presented budget estimate of N4.2tn for the 2026 fiscal year.
Presenting the budget estimate tagged “Shared Prosperity” before the lawmakers, Sanwo-Olu explained that the budget was anchored on four pillars- Human-centred approach, modern Infrastructure, thriving economy, and effective governance.
He proposed N2.185trn capital expenditure while pegging recurrent expenditure at N2.052trn, comprising total overhead, total personnel cost, and recurrent debt service.
In the budget estimate, N383b was earmarked for debt repayments.
On sectoral allocation, Sanwo-Olu proposed N847bn for General Public Services, N147bn for Public Order and Safety, N1,37trn for Economic Affairs while Environment got N235bn.
Housing got N123bn, Health got N338bn, Recreation – N54bn, Education – N249bn, and Social Protection – N70bn
The governor explained that his administration will expand support to agribusiness, manufacturing, technology, creative industries, and tourism–driving job creation and boosting competitiveness.
It would be recalled that the governor presented N3.3trn for the 2025 fiscal year.
