Former governorship candidate of the Accord Party (AP) in the 2024 Edo State governorship election, Dr. Bright Enabulele, has resigned his membership of the party.

Dr. Enabulele said his resignation would bring succour to the people.Enabulele announced his decision to quit the AP during the celebration of his birthday in Benin City.

He said he would consult with leaders of the party before the next line of action would be taken.

Enabulele, who pledged support for Governor Monday Okpebholo, said he has begun a new journey that has zero self-benefit.

He said, “It’s a journey that will better the people of Edo. I think the course was justified, but it’s time for me to officially let my followers and the people that have gathered here with me today to celebrate my birthday that I am resigning from the Accord Party.

“Where we are going next will be determined in the next few days.

“People that believe me, people that understand that politics is not about self-interest, but for the betterment of the people because democracy is power vested on the people to serve the interest of the people.

“I believe it’s time for me to fight in a better position, in a better situation, in a better empowerment that my fight will not be in vain.

“For me, this is bigger than the political flag. It has to do with my journey. It is not about parties, it’s about leadership. My resignation from our Accord party is a personal reason. It has to be a good party.

“So, I’m not leaving for bad. I’m living for good. So, it has to do with the APC.

“If the government is not giving the people what they want, I will fight them to the end. But, if they are lying with the people and the people are happy, how will I lie with them? You work with them.”
