APC To PDP: Pack Your Bags, We’re Reclaiming Oyo In 2027
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has promised to take back Oyo State from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Former Deputy Governor of the state, Chief Iyiola Oladokun, said this during a meeting called “Operation Recapture Oyo State” held with party leaders from the 10 local government areas in the Oke-Ogun region at Igboho.
Oladokun said Oyo State had lost its status as a pacesetter under the PDP. He criticised the neglect of rural areas, especially Oke-Ogun, mentioning refuse dumps, blocked drainages, bad roads, and rising cases of kidnapping.
At the meeting, APC leaders told their members to increase grassroots mobilisation and ensure every eligible citizen gets their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to vote out the PDP in 2027.
“We have learnt from our mistakes that made us lose this progressive state to PDP. We are now ready to install a people-oriented, progressive government in 2027,” Oladokun said.
They also called for power to shift to the Oke-Ogun area, especially for choosing the governorship and senatorial candidates in the upcoming election.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State APC Peace Advocate Group, which includes former speakers of the House of Assembly, ex-lawmakers, and public office holders, visited the meeting. They urged aspirants and their supporters to remain peaceful in their campaigns and mobilisation efforts.
Those present at the meeting included former deputy governors Chief Adeyemo Alake and Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, former Minister of Communications Barrister Bayo Shittu, and other current and past federal and state lawmakers.
The meeting also passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s administration and promised to support his re-election bid in 2027.
