Military Betrayal: Army Officer Caught Selling Stolen Toyota Corolla
In a dramatic turn of events, a 33-year-old Nigerian Army personnel has been arrested in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for attempting to sell a stolen Toyota Corolla.
Lance Corporal Yusuf Yunnusa, stationed at the 82 Battalion in Rukuba, Plateau State, was apprehended on April 19, 2025, at Mamu Filling Station in Lambata, Kwali, after intelligence reports led to his capture.
The daring theft unfolded when Yunnusa, operating under the cover of his military position, stole the vehicle from its parking spot at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja on April 17.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency experts, the car, a Toyota Corolla LE with registration number ABC 570 FJ, was discovered at the scene of the attempted sale, where Yunnusa had planned to offload the stolen property without the necessary documents.
Caught red-handed, Yunnusa confessed to the crime, revealing that he had intended to sell the vehicle in Kwali but was intercepted before completing the illicit transaction.
The suspect remains in custody as police conduct further investigation into the audacious act.
This arrest raises serious questions about the integrity of military personnel and their involvement in criminal activities.
