Gov Adeleke Felicitates With OSCOTECH As She Celebrates 8th Combined Convocation, 32 Years Of Existence
Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke on Thursday 12th December, 2024 celebrated her 8th Combined Convocation Ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Adeleke lauded the College Management for persistently providing high quality education to the citizens.
He is particularly happy that the College which was established by his late brother Alhaji Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke has been committed to Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Community development as evident in the accolades she has received over the years.
The Governor reiterated that his administration has invested a lot into infrastructure, equipment and human resources so that the students will continue to receive the best possible training.
He felt highly elated by the progress report he received on the efforts of the College Management.
He further promised his continued support to the College in her quest to become a leading global institution in Technological Education.
The Governor appreciated the Governing Council’s Chairman, Prince Diran Odeyemi; and the Rector, Dr. Samson Akinbamide Omobayo Adegoke for performing wonderfully well in the administration of the College.
The Governor also commended the Staff and Students for their peaceful conduct and interaction, which has created room for developmental strides and monumental achievements recorded by the College.
The Chairman of the College Governing Council, Prince Diran Odeyemi, in his address, having paid tributes to the founder of the institution, late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke said OSCOTECH has proven to be one of the best technology-based Polytechnics in Nigeria.
Prince Odeyemi described the staff as a body of trustworthy and reliable workforce behind the success story of the institution.
Furthermore, the chairman made three passionate appeals to the Governor: first is the conversion of the appointment of Part-time staff to Full-time.. The second is that the roads in the College be tarred and thirdly, that the College health Centre be upgraded with modern health equipment.
The Rector Dr. Samson Akinbamide Omobayo Adegoke appreciated the Governor and the dignitaries for coming to grace the occasion.
He highlighted the numerous achievements of his administration as the Rector of the technological institution. He attributed his success to the support and cooperation he received from the Management, Staff, Students’ Union and the three Staff Unions in the College.
Dr. Adegoke hinted that the College is one of the thirty licensed by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to operate Open Distance Flexible e-Learning (ODFeL) in Nigeria. With this, students will be able to take online courses across the globe without having to come to the College.
The Rector suggested to the government that more premium and attention should be placed on Technology-based Education.
He cited examples of Singapore and China that have prioritised technological education for their development. Dr. Adegoke therefore urged the government to place more priority on technological education, and provide robust and adequate funding for Colleges of Technology and Polytechnics in Nigeria.
The reason is that these institutions have pragmatic solutions to the nation’s technological issues and challenges like the recurring national grid collapse among others.
A total of Ten Thousand, Eight Hundred (10800) Students graduated from the College for 2021/2022, 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 Academic Sessions.
