The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised allegations against three key Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officers, accusing them of attempting to compromise the forthcoming Edo State governorship election slated for September 21, 2024.

In a letter addressed to the INEC Chairman and dated Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the APC, through its Edo State chapter, expressed concern over alleged activities by the Head of Operations (HoD) of INEC in the State, Inoyengieni Frank Ogbise, Lawrence Akan, the Head of ICT Edo State, and Blessing Suleiman, the Electoral Officer of Akoko Edo Local Government Area.

The APC accused Ogbise of recruiting staff from outside Edo State to support the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the election and cited suspicions that he was involved in planting INEC staff in Eterno Hotel, owned by Matthew Iduoriyemekwen, Director-General of the PDP campaign organization.

Also, Lawrence Akan was accused of distributing money allegedly provided by the PDP to staff and being involved in activities aimed at compromising the election.

Additionally, Blessing Suleiman was accused of depriving registered voters of their permanent voter cards (PVCs) in favour of members of the PDP.

APC has urged INEC to intervene and ensure a fair and transparent election process.
