“As a peace organization that indexes crime reports, the command has succeeded with the arrest of over 20, notorious criminals, suspected cultists, kidnapers and ritualists that were paraded and currently facing prosecutions before court of competent jurisdictions. The most fascinating success recorded so far was the arrest of two notorious criminals that have been on the wanted list of police in the last three years which were recently nabbed and paraded and with recovery of sophisticated ammunitions. These are criminal suspects that have been moving round the state with impunity in the last 3 years”.
“This effort of the police yielded result during the recent concluded End Bad Government protest in Osgobo apart from the professionalism displayed to preserve the fundamental right of the protesters, the criminal elements totally stayed away from the protest because of the fear of the consequences and conviction that police would definitely get back at them”.
“As at today in Osun, the state is no more attractive to criminal elements and even the notorious thugs that always create crisis now understand that it is not business as usual which has resulted to relative peace in the state especially the state capital and major cities such as Ilesha and Ife.
“Therefore, we commend the officers and men of the command especially the tactical units such as Anti Cultist, Anti Thugery and Anti Kidnapping for the successes recorded in recent time and encourage them to do more in their responsibility of protecting lives and properties.”
“It is also important to say that our reports indicate that some elements in both the opposition political party and ruling party in the state are making frantic efforts to undermine the efforts of the police as a result of the arrest and prosecution of some suspected political thugs. We urge the police to be resilient and professional by not allowing anyone to place political interest over the security of life and properties in the state” The communiqué reads.
