EPL: Chelsea Extend Lead As Man United, Man City Draw
Super Eagles star Victor Moses was in action for 90 minutes for Chelsea on Sunday in their 3-0 Premier League away win against Everton at Goodison Park.
Pedro Rodriguez, Gary Cahill and Willian were the scorers for the league leaders.
The win extended Chelsea’s lead over Tottenham at the top of the table to seven points.
The game was Moses’ 31st Premier League appearance this season.
In another game, Manchester United’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League suffered a huge setback following a disappointing 1-1 Premier League draw with relegation threatened Swansea City at Old Trafford on Sunday.
United suffer a double injury setback as Luke Shaw and Eric Bailly became the latest players to head to the treatment room.
Wayne Rooney looked to have won the game for United as he converted a late first half penalty to give United the lead.
But with less than 15 minutes remaining Gylfi Sigurdsson swung in a well taken free-kick to secure the draw for Swansea.
United are now fifth on 65 points in the league table with a game in hand, while Swansea are 18th on 32 points and two points away from safety.
The draw for United also means they’ve set a club record of 25 games unbeaten in a single top-flight season, although they have played 14 draws, 10 at home.
As promised United players wore black armbands in memory of the football fans that died in Calabar, Nigeria recently.
Manchester City also missed the chance to move further away from their top four rivals as they were held to a 2-2 draw against relegation threatened Middlesbrough at the Riverside in the Premier League on Sunday.
Former City forward Alvaro Negredo put Middlesbrough ahead in the first half but they were pegged back by Sergio Aguero from the penalty spot.
Arsenal on loan defender Calum Chambers thought he had sealed the win for Middlesbrough but Gabriel Jesus equalised to make sure both teams shared the spoils.
