FG Announces 30-Day Petrol Discount At NNPC Stations
The Federal Government has announced plans to sell petrol at discounted prices at NNPC filling stations across the country for the next 30 days.
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, disclosed this on Thursday during a press conference in Abuja.
Oyedele said the initiative was part of measures by the Federal Government to provide relief to Nigerians, particularly those who rely on public transportation.
He said there would be a discount on petrol sold at NNPC retail outlets for the next one month, with public transport operators given priority under the arrangement.
According to the minister, the government will also introduce a negotiated landing cost for petrol, which will be reviewed monthly.
Oyedele said, “There’ll be a discount on NNPC petrol for the next 30 days, with priority for public transporters.”
He added that the government would work with relevant stakeholders on the negotiated landing cost, which would be subject to monthly review.
The announcement is expected to provide some relief to commuters and transport operators, particularly amid concerns over the cost of transportation and the impact of petrol prices on household expenses.
Further details on the discount, including the specific pump price and modalities for accessing the scheme, were not immediately disclosed by the minister.
The Federal Government is expected to provide additional information on the implementation of the arrangement in the coming days.
