Encomiums As Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Oyewumi Empowers Constituents
It was a wonderful sight to behold for the people of Osun West Senatorial district as its illustrious son, and Senator Representing the Constituency at the 10th National Assembly, Senator Lere Oyewumi reeled out dividends of a good Democratic process and Representation.
The chieftain of the ruling People’s Democratic party in Osun over the years has been widely known and noted for his ever-developmental strides towards making engaging polity as a veritable tool for communal and social advancement and his rich political profile as seen him create for himself a magnificent and laudable antecedent which has made him one of the most loved PDP member in the state.
His ever cheerful and always positive personality ensures that people are always endeared to him; he on his part has also ensured that he makes himself always and readily available to his people.
Pushing forth in his determination to fulfilling more on his electoral promises which is aimed at ensuring the full empowerment of the people of Osun West Senatorial district, a needful assignment which he believes will ensure and facilitate the financial independence of his constituents on Friday, 17th of November, 2023, gave out empowerment items to the people the district.
Oyewumi, the deputy minority leader having listened to each of the beneficiaries and well briefed about what needed of them to survive the current economic hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy undertook a significant poverty-alleviation and empowerment initiative, providing support to various groups in his district.
The beneficiaries include women, traders, youths, farmers, and artisans, spanning across the 10 local governments in the district. The empowerment event, held in Ikire on Friday, received the distribution of 120 motorcycles, numerous bags of fertilizer, and a cash sum of 25 million naira.
Stakeholders from across the State, farmers, and residents of Ikire and neighboring areas attended the event, demonstrating the widespread impact of Senator Lere Oyewumi’s initiative.
Senator Oyewumi highlighted the pressing issue of food insecurity in the country and emphasized the importance of fertilizer as a fundamental necessity for farmers.
He expressed his commitment to making this empowerment program an annual initiative, fulfilling a promise made during his campaign.
Hon. Sunday Bisi, the State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, expressed gratitude to Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for creating a conducive environment for such initiatives.
He commended Senator Lere Oyewumi, describing the empowerment program as unprecedented in the history of Osun State.
As the beneficiaries received the motorcycles, fertilizer, and cash, they expressed their joy and gratitude, showering Senator Lere Oyewumi with praises and prayers.
