No Plan To Reduce Working Days – FG Tells Civil Servants

The Federal Government has said there is no plan to reduce work days over the hike in the price of petrol caused by the removal of petrol subsidy.

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, said this Tuesday, at a Media Parley in Abuja, to flag off the 2023 Civil Service Week.

She explained there was no need for that because the Tinubu-led administration is working on sustainable palliatives for civil servants.

According to her, part of the measures by the Federal Government is to purchase mass transit buses that would run on gas and not diesel, which already the buses are being converted from diesel to gas-powered vehicles.

She also said workers’ salaries were being reviewed for the increment to also cushion the impact of the petrol subsidy removal.

“We don’t have any plans to reduce working days for civil servants in view of the hike in PMS and cost of transportation. However, a committee has been set up to look into this. “The committee is currently working on getting gas-powered buses to convey civil servants to and fro. We’re also working on the conversion of some vehicles from PMS into gas. Also, the minimum wage is also being reviewed,” Yemi-Esan said.
