Yunusa Yellow Jailed For Child Trafficking Of Esu Oruru Released From Prison
Dahiru Yunusa Yellow who was accused of Child Trafficking of Esu Oruru
from Delta State to Kano in 2015 and was jailed for 26 years, has regained freedom after serving a reduced sentences of seven years by an Appeal Court.
Yunusa Yellow was accused in 2015 of abducting Ese Oruru from Yanagua in Delta State to Kano, and possibly converted her to Islam and married her, something that raises serious dust than.
Yellow was however arrested in Yanagua Delta State in 2015 and was imprisoned by the State High Court Judge, Justice Jane Inyang who held that Yellow was not guilty on count one bothering on abduction.
The Presiding Judge then held that Yunusa Yellow was guilty on count 2, 3, 4 and 5 which specified that he was guilty on Trafficking, illicit Sex, Sexual Exploitation and Canal Knowledge to Esu Oruru.
He was than sentenced to 26 years Consecutively but in 2020 a Court of Appeal where Yellow appealed his sentences in Port Harcourt reduces his sentences to seven years.
The Appeal Court Panel Led by Justice JS Iykegh dismissed the sentences but held that the lower Court erred by imposing sentences of seven years each which above maximum provided in such a case.
By which the Appeal Court rules that the convict would only served seven years from the date of his conviction and concurrently not consecutively as said by the lower Court.
By this judgement, Yunusa Yellow regained his freedom from Correctional facility is to be reunite with his Family soon
