The All Progressives Congress, APC, Will today Monday May 21, 2018 meet all governorship aspirants on the platform of the party as part of strategies to ensure peace ahead of September 22 governorship election in the state.

It was a carnival-like moment for amagalm supporters of the aspirants as they were sighted dancing and jubilating along the popular Ola-Iya junctions, while some were heading to the party secretariat to register their solidarity to choice candidates.

The Director of Publicity of the party in the state, Barr. Kunle Oyatomi, had earlier confirmed to our correspondent that the meeting would hold at the party Secretariat along Gbongan road, Osogbo.

According to Oyatomi, the meeting was called to appeal to the aspirants on the way to go about their campaign with a view to have peaceful process.

Speaking on why the party has refused to lift ban on political activities in the past months, he said APC was concerned about peaceful process and how it would win the election.

He said the ban may be lifted after the meeting on Monday, maintaining that aspirants would be given level playing ground.

CityMirrorNews recalls that aspirants
on the platform of the party have been banned from going out for any activity regarding the coming governorship election.

While some of the aspirants have tactically ignored this direvtive and embarked on quasi-campaign, while, aspirants like the Secretary to the state government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, Osun Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon Najeem Salaam, Peter Babalola, Dayo Oyebamiji, Bola Oyebamiji have overtly remained mute.

It was gathered that efforts are still ongoing to persuade Adeoti to step down for the widely speculated governor’s choice, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, who presently holds sway as the Chief of Staff to the Governor.

Expectedly, the agitation for Osun West Senatorial District to produce the next Governor might turn out to be the last stroke that will be break the party’s camel back.
