A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chairmanship aspirant in Osogbo Central Local Government Area of Osun state, Mr. Moruf Olaniyi Daodu, has empowered 40 women in his local government with N5,000 each to boost their small-scale businesses.
Daodu, while distributing the money at Alagbaa Ward 7, Itaolokan, Osogbo on Tuesday to commemorate second year anniversary of Governor Gboyega Oyetola in Office, said the gesture was to enable the beneficiaries to be self-reliant.
He explained that he doled out the cash to complement the efforts of APC led government in the state.
He said that it would also assist them in taking care of their families and contribute their own quota to the development of the society.
The Chairmanship hopeful said the donation was part of his programme aimed at “empowering and improving the socio-economic development of my people.”
The goal of the programme, he explained, was to ensure that women and youths within his local government become self-reliant in their chosen business endeavours.
He assured the women in the local government area of his continued support so as to improve their living condition.
He, however promised the people of Osogbo Central local government a good representation, if given opportunity to serve the council as Chairman.
Daodu said if given the chance his goal will be to be the people’s chairman, by engaging in development programmes, promising to facilitate development through NGOs.
“Today, 15 of December, I feel very fulfilled because I was able to give back to my people. Out of the little I have, I decided to give it out to my people especially the vulnerable women in my local government.
“I doled out N5,000 to 40 vulnerable women each to boost their small scale business and I did it to commemorate second year Anniversary of our amiable Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola in office and to complement the efforts of the APC led government in the state of Osun.
“What I did today is not because of my political ambition but it’s because of the passion I have for the development of my council and the love I have for my people. I am a cheerful giver, I have been doing it silently and I will continue to do it because the welfare of my people is very important to me
“I believe the programme would go a long way in making the beneficiaries self-reliant.” Daodu said
While commending the Governor for his unprecedented achievements within the space of two years, Daudu said Governor Oyetola has performed tremendously well.
Daodu who described Governor Oyetola has an icon and silent achiever, said despite the meager resources, the governor has transformed the state beyond expectations.
