Murder: Osun Monarchs Express Worry, Call For Unity Among Residents
Two prominent monarchs in Isokan South Local Council Development Area of Osun State have expressed displeasure over the recent clash that ensued between the members of Oodua Peoples Congress and its rivalry group, OPCI in Ikoyi and its neigboring town , Apomu which led to the death of a member OPCI while some others sustained injuries.
The The Olukoyi of Ikoyi land, Oba Yisau Bantale Oyetunji Otunla, Kodaolu 1, and Alapomu of Apomu land, Oba Kayode Afolabi condemned in totality the bloody clash between the OPC and OPCI in Ikoyi and Apomu communities recently, advocating for peaceful coexistence among the people of the two Communities.
The Olukoyi and Alapomu while reacting said the town sleepy Communities have been known for peace, adding that the residents should desist from any action capable of truncating the peaceful coexistence between the two Communities
The traditional rulers, who appealed to the two groups to put aside their differences and live together as one for the sake of peace and unity said there is nothing to gain in fighting each other.
According to the royal fathers, “as security outfit, you must shun violent behaviours among yourselves and your main objective should be centered on how to compliment the government efforts in promoting peaceful co-existence through sensitization and awareness campaign aimed at stopping violence in the areas as people are watching you”
The Monarchs, who encouraged the residents to be going about their normal business, law abiding and support the government of the day on their efforts to better the lot called on the Police and other security personnel attached to the area to be watchful.
However, a Leader of the factional group in Ikoyi, Teslim Raji, assured the royal fathers and entire dwellers of the towns
there would not be any reprisal attack, promising that unity and peace would be their watchword.
Raji,further said that, he will continue to ensure that the towns remain peaceful at all time.
