Opinion: Governor Adeleke’s 100 Days In Office: Beyond Dancing – By Oluwaseyi Adeniyi
During the electioneering period, Osun APC portrayed Senator Ademola Adeleke as an ordinary dancer who knows nothing about governance.
Senator Adeleke told the people of Osun that if they can vote for him as their Governor, he would do that which seems impossible for the APC in the State. He said he is going to use his ingenuity to bring back the lost glory of the state. Osun people believed him, without minding the campaign of calumny employed by APC, they voted for him overwhelmingly.
On the day of his inauguration, he made a statement that his administration will centre on the people, that he is going to run a people’s oriented government.
Today, it’s empirical evident that Governor Adeleke knows his onions and understands what it takes to be a good leader. The deliverables are there for people to see.
In the history of Osun, no government has ever done what Mr Governor has achieved in the last 100 days in office.
Reconstruction of 20km of roads across the Nine (9) federal constituencies in the State. Remobilizing contractor back to the site at Osogbo-Ikirun-Ila odo road (Kwara boundary).
Reconstruction of already collapsed bridge at Bokusoro/Adeke area in Iwo to forestall loss of life which has been recurring decimal on the bridge.
Provision of portable water in each of the 332 electoral wards in Osun State.
Launching of Osun Tech revolution through new Tech innovation policy, ICT policy, domestication of Nigeria’s startup act and Osun google mapping project which has rated Osun above 50% from below 30% when this administration took over.
Truth be told, Osun civil servants have lost hope regarding the salary and pension arrears owed by APC government, but Governor Adeleke shocked them when he started the payment. What seems impossible by the last administration, it is becoming possible under the leadership of a “Dancing” Governor.
Rural electrification project across Osun State. Provision of transformers and other electrical materials to ensure communities without electricity can have light.
No fewer than 18,000 Osun residents received free surgery for those suffering from cataracts, hernia, pterigium, others ailment, courtesy of Imole surgical and medical outreach.
Enrolment of 3332 of Osun indigenes (10 per ward) on Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS), to ensure adequate healthcare access for the vulnerables. Just to mention a few.
Good governance is all about giving your people what they need, when they need it. By the time this administration clocks six (6) months, the doubting Thomas would have seen and be able to differentiate between a government that puts people first and the government that rides on lies and propaganda.
