Obokun APC Crisis: LG Party Chairman Disowns Purported Suspension Of Ex-Lawmaker, Oyintiloye
By Christianah Oladosu, Osogbo
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, Oluyide Adesina, has said that he is not aware of the purported suspension of Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye from the party.
This is contained in a letter addressed to the state chairman of the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, a copy which was made available to journalists in Osogbo, on Friday.
Adesina described as absurd the purported suspension of Oyintiloye, a leading member of the party, by the APC Ward 1 chairman in Ibokun, Olugbenga Fagbamila, and a faction of ward members loyal to him.
He said the purported suspension of Oyintiloye was against Article 21 of the party’s constitution.
“I wish to inform you of the absurdity currently going on in Ward 01, Ibokun, in which the Ward Chairman, Olugbenga Fagbamila, and a faction of the Ward Executive members loyal to him purportedly suspended a leading member of the party.
“I am aware that Article 21 and other relevant sections of the constitution of our great party contain clear procedural processes by which a party member could be suspended.
“I am sure that this action is in clear violation of such provisions.
“In addition, as the Chairman of the party in Obokun Local Government, I was never informed or carried along in the process leading to the said suspension.
“I therefore wish to dissociate myself from such an illegal action, which is capable of causing serious damage to the fortunes of our party in future elections.
“I also wish to call your attention to the protracted and seemingly irreconcilable crisis ravaging Ibokun Ward, and the urgent need to nip it in the bud before it degenerates into a further crisis of unimaginable proportion.
“The constitution of our great party should remain our guiding norm and should not be allowed to be trampled upon by any member of the party,” he said.
