Osun ALGON Donates Operational Vehicles To Security Agencies

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Osun State chapter, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress has donated additional operational vehicles to security agencies in the state.

Presenting the vehicles to the security agencies at the State Police Headquarters in Osogbo on Saturday, the ALGON Chairman, Samuel Idowu, on behalf of other council officials, restated the collective commitment of ALGON to strengthening security architecture, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing public safety within communities.

“Just few weeks ago, we were here to unveil the distribution of the patrol vehicles and I am glad to inform this gathering that the remaining of the vehicles are here for distribution aimed at strengthening the security, maintenance of law and order in the state. This is indeed, “a promise made, a promise kept,” Idowu said.

Noting that security remains the bedrock of any meaningful development anywhere in the world, the council boss emphasised that without peace and stability, no society can thrive, and no government can achieve its developmental goals.

“We understand the peculiar security challenges within our communities, and we are determined to support all necessary efforts to address them effectively,” he stated while donating the vehicles.

He stressed that the success of the initiative is a direct product of the growing autonomy of local governments, and commended the dedication and sacrifices of security personnel.

Ahead of the state governorship election, Idowu urged all residents to support security agencies in restoring peace in Osun and warned politicians against violence.

Reacting on behalf of benefiting security agencies, Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, hailed ALGON for the donation, saying that “security remains a shared responsibility, and investments such as this demonstrate confidence in the ability of security agencies to continue delivering effective service to the people.”

Gotan added, “These operational vehicles will significantly improve mobility, response time, patrol coverage, intelligence-led operations, and inter-agency collaboration in combating crime and maintaining public order.

As beneficiaries of this support, we assure members of the public that these assets will be deployed judiciously, maintained properly, and utilized strictly for the purpose (security) for which they are intended; which is to safeguard lives and property and ensure peace across Osun State.”
