Accord Crisis Deepens As Gbenga Hashim Camp Rejects Alleged Tinubu Endorsement

The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) has dismissed the reported endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by Governor Ademola Adeleke and some Accord Party officials in Osun State, describing the development as unconstitutional and without effect on the party’s 2027 presidential ticket.

In a statement issued on Monday by its National Coordinator, the group described the meeting reportedly held at the Osun State Government House, Osogbo, as an “illegal, politically contrived and inconsequential gathering,” insisting that it lacked the constitutional authority to determine the party’s presidential direction.

According to the movement, the alleged endorsement cannot override the mandate it said was freely given to Dr. Gbenga Hashim as the Accord Party’s presidential candidate during a nationwide direct primary conducted on May 30, 2026, in line with the Electoral Act and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines.

GHSM maintained that no meeting held outside the constitutional structures of the party could invalidate the outcome of the primary election or alter the party’s presidential candidature.

The group further described the reported endorsement of President Tinubu as “null, unconstitutional and without political consequence,” while accusing Governor Adeleke of engaging in anti-party activities and attempting to use state resources to undermine the Accord Party’s presidential project.

It also alleged that efforts were being made to subordinate the party’s presidential ambition to the interests of another political party, insisting that Accord belongs to its members and not to individuals seeking political advantage.

Expressing confidence in Dr. Hashim’s chances in the 2027 presidential election, the movement said it would intensify mobilisation across the country’s 774 local government areas to rally support for its candidate.

GHSM further disclosed that the dispute surrounding the Accord Party’s presidential nomination remains before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where proceedings have been concluded and judgment reserved.

The group argued that public pronouncements on matters already before the court were inappropriate and reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing the case through all available judicial channels if necessary.

It maintained that the outcome of the 2027 presidential election would ultimately be determined by the Nigerian electorate and not by political endorsements made outside the party’s constitutional framework.
