Military Repels Boko Haram attacks, Rescues 15 Abductees In North-East Operations
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, have repelled multiple coordinated terrorist attacks across the theatre of operations while sustaining ongoing offensive operations against insurgent elements.
The attacks, which occurred on Wednesday, targeted Kanama in Yobe State, as well as Ngoshe and Banki areas of Borno State, but were decisively thwarted through prompt response and effective fire control, with no casualties or damage recorded.
In continuation of follow-on operations, troops conducted precision air interdiction missions, including a strike at about 3:15 a.m. at Sowolowolo in the Sambisa Forest axis.
The strike, carried out based on confirmed intelligence, destroyed remaining terrorist gun trucks in the area, bringing the total number of neutralised platforms to three.
In a similar operation, another precision strike was conducted at Kaniram in the Mallam Fatori axis, targeting terrorists observed conducting burial activities following earlier engagements.
The military said the operation resulted in the neutralisation of several fleeing and regrouping insurgents.
Meanwhile, troops of Sector 1 under 26 Brigade conducted search and rescue operations towards the Mandara Mountains, where 15 women and children abducted by terrorists were successfully rescued.
The military also reported that insurgents fired projectiles into Gwoza in what it described as a desperate response, but the attack caused no casualties or damage, as troops continue to maintain sustained pressure on terrorist elements across the theatre of operations.
