The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has deployed officers, men and operational assets across the state to ensure adequate security before, during and after the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The state Commandant, Mr Oluyemi Ibiloye, gave the directive in an operational order issued to all formations and tactical heads on Friday as part of preparations for the celebration.

The command stressed that areas of responsibility include prayer grounds, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, worship centres, as well as critical national, state and local government assets and infrastructure.

The command stated that tactical and specialised units, including the Agro Rangers Squad, Armed Squad, Female Strike Force, Rapid Tactical Squad, Anti-Vandal Squad, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Unit, Counter-Terrorism Unit and Disaster Management Unit would be deployed in public spaces and strategic locations prone to criminal activities.

It noted that the deployment of the specialised tactical units and intelligence operatives was aimed at strengthening security and ensuring a peaceful festive period across the state.

In line with the directive of the commandant, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers were also directed to intensify surveillance and visibility patrols across flashpoints within their areas of responsibility through collaboration with other security agencies in intelligence gathering and information sharing.

Ibiloye urged officers and men of the corps to remain committed, vigilant and professional while respecting the fundamental rights of citizens.

He also emphasised strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, SOPs, Rules of Engagement and Service Orders in the discharge of their duties.

The commandant extended Eid greetings to Muslim faithful and urged them to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, love and peaceful coexistence.

He also encouraged residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant and security conscious during and after the celebrations.
