2027: Osun APM Rep Candidate, Oyedeji Seeks Youth-Driven Political Renewal, Fresh Ideas In Governance

The Action Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for the Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr Wale Oyedeji, has called for greater youth participation and the injection of fresh ideas into Nigeria’s political system to accelerate development.

Oyedeji, a lecturer at the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, said the country could achieve meaningful transformation by creating space for younger Nigerians with innovative ideas to contribute to governance.

The candidate made the call on Tuesday while featuring on the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) guest platform in Osogbo, where he spoke on governance, development, investment and the role of young people in shaping the future of the country.

According to him, youths have a significant stake in the future of Nigeria and should therefore not be relegated to the background in political and governance processes.

“There is a need to inject fresh minds and ideas into the political system to bring about meaningful transformation.

“We are bridging the gap to address every challenge when I come on board, and the media will have to do more in this regard,” he said.

Oyedeji also identified the media as a critical institution in the development of society, saying journalists had a responsibility to shape public discourse, set the narrative right and draw attention to issues affecting the people.

He called for stronger collaboration between the media, political leaders and other stakeholders in addressing developmental challenges and promoting accountability in governance.

On economic development, the APM candidate stressed the importance of creating an environment capable of attracting investors and encouraging business growth.

He noted that no society could achieve sustainable development without investment, urging governments to formulate policies that would give investors confidence while creating opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs to thrive.

Oyedeji said some of the challenges confronting the Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency would receive priority attention if elected, promising to work towards bridging existing developmental gaps.

He also pledged to support legislative initiatives that would empower relevant stakeholders and provide opportunities for constituents to participate meaningfully in the economic and social development of the constituency.

The university lecturer further advocated the institutionalisation of ideas and practices capable of promoting effective leadership, saying governance should go beyond personalities to establish systems that would endure and deliver tangible benefits to the people.

He urged youths and other stakeholders to become more actively involved in the political process, stressing that innovation, inclusive governance and fresh perspectives were essential to building a more responsive society.
