Oluga Hails Tinubu Over Call For Support For APC Female Candidates
The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency in Osun State, Hon. Taiwo Oluga, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for advocating greater support for female candidates contesting elective positions on the party’s platform.
Oluga gave the commendation following the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), where Tinubu reportedly called for support for women seeking elective offices.
In a statement reacting to the President’s remarks, the APC candidate described the call as a significant recognition of women’s competence, capacity and contributions to political development.
She urged the party’s leadership and stakeholders to translate the President’s position into concrete actions by providing the necessary support for female candidates ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
“As a woman in politics and a proud member of our great party, I deeply appreciate this recognition,” she said.
Oluga, who is seeking election into the House of Representatives, said APC women had demonstrated commitment, loyalty and dedication to the party and deserved opportunities to contribute more to governance and national development.
She noted that greater support for women in politics would strengthen the party, promote inclusive leadership and create more opportunities for women to participate in decision-making.
According to her, the President’s remarks should go beyond public declarations and inspire deliberate measures to ensure that female candidates receive the political backing and encouragement required to compete effectively.
Oluga called on party leaders, stakeholders and supporters to rally behind women candidates, stressing that their electoral success would further demonstrate the APC’s commitment to inclusive political participation.
“The time to support APC women is now. The time to turn words into action is now,” she declared.
She expressed optimism that Tinubu’s position would encourage increased female participation in the party’s political and leadership structures, while helping to address barriers confronting women in the political arena.
The APC candidate also expressed appreciation to the President for his stance and prayed for the success of the party and the continued progress of Nigeria.
Oluga’s remarks come amid renewed calls for greater representation of women in Nigeria’s political leadership, particularly as political parties prepare for the forthcoming general elections.
