Security operatives in Katsina State have repelled an attempted attack on Gwarjo town in Matazu Local Government Area, forcing suspected bandits to flee, abandoning their weapons at the scene.
The incident was contained in a post shared on X on Wednesday by security analyst, Bakatsine.
According to the post, officers from the Musawa and Matazu Police Divisions responded swiftly after the bandits attempted to invade the community.
A heavy exchange of fire reportedly followed, after which the attackers fled into nearby bushes.
In the process, the bandits left behind a newly acquired motorcycle, two AK-49 rifles, ammunition, and a mobile phone.
The recovered items are expected to assist authorities in ongoing intelligence efforts to track the attackers and their network.
“Commendation to the officers and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force for their swift response and bravery in defending the community. May their efforts continue to bring lasting peace and security to the region,” Bakatsine added.
