We Are United Against August 8 Governorship Poll- Basiru

The Governorship drive of the Standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State gathered more momdntum as the State Chapter of the National Forum of Former Legislators has come together to unite for the August 8 poll.

The meeting was convened to unite party Elders, reconcile aggrieved members and finally cement cracks ripped open by the emergence of the party’s candidate.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting of the Forum held at Alubarika House, Osogbo, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress Dr Ajibola said the purpose of the meeting was to bring all former State lawmakers together on the same platform to return Osun completely to the Progressives fold.

“As you can see, we have close to sixty former lawmakers from 1999 to 2023. No more wrangling or friction. These are people who have contested and won elections. They are grassroot mobilisers. We are not a divided house. We have victory assured on the 8th of August.”

Addressing newsmen, Professor Mojeed Alabi and Hon Yinka Ajayi also stressed that the meeting was to restrategise and restructure with a view to winning the August Gubernatorial election. They disclosed that the calibre of people who attended the forum showed that Osun APC has come together to form a formidable front to reclaim power this August.

“We have three former Speakers here, we have Senators.

We have former Legislators across the three Senatorial Districts and nine Federal Constituencies. No more rancours. Our focus is to mobilize ahead of August poll and win convincingly.”

“This meeting was not about Osun 2026 alone. We will work towards returning Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in 2027. We have this double task back to back, and we shall triumph back to back.”

Among those who attended the Forum were Senator Mudasir Hussein, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, Hon Adejare Bello, Hon. Akintunde Adegboye, Hon. Adeoye Adelakun, Hon. Bade Falade, Dr Mulikat Abiola and Barr Wale Afolabi.

The list also included Hon. Wasiu Adebayo, Hon. Funmilayo Olasehinde, Hon. Wale Adedoyin and a host of other former lawmakers at the State and National Levels.
