Community Leader, Five Others Arrested Over Sexual Assault In Delta Festival
The Delta State Police Command has arrested a community leader and five others over alleged sexual assaults during the Alue Do festival in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.
The arrests followed the circulation of disturbing videos from the Uruamudhu Quarters of Ozoro Kingdom, showing the molestation of young women in the community.
In a statement on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, condemned the incident, describing it as criminal, inhumane, and a gross violation of the victims’ rights and dignity.
The Commissioner has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a comprehensive probe and directed the deployment of tactical teams to track down other suspects.
