US Federal Agents Search Ilhan Omar’s Home Over Alleged Immigration Paperwork Fraud
Federal agents in the United States on Monday searched the Washington, DC-area home of Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, according to reports by the New York Post and the Associated Press.
The search was conducted by the Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations unit under a court-authorised warrant, the US Department of Justice confirmed.
“Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” a DOJ spokesperson told Fox News Digital, according to the New York Post report published on Monday, October 12, 2026.
“This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” the spokesperson added.
The New York Post reported that the investigation centred on alleged fraud involving the Democratic congresswoman’s immigration paperwork. However, the Justice Department did not publicly disclose further details about the allegations or the specific focus of the investigation.
The Associated Press also reported that federal agents searched Omar’s residence on Monday morning, citing individuals familiar with the matter. The news agency said the Justice Department confirmed the execution of the search warrant but provided no additional information about the case.
Omar, 44, represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, which includes Minneapolis. She was first elected to the US House of Representatives in 2018 and has since become a prominent figure in the Democratic Party’s progressive wing.
The congresswoman is also known for her outspoken criticism of President Donald Trump and his administration’s policies.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the available reports do not establish that Omar has been charged with any crime in connection with the case.
