Nigerian-British Businessman Dies After Penis Filler Procedure In Thailand

A Nigerian-British businessman and social media influencer, Igho Ubiribo, has died after developing a fatal pulmonary embolism following a penis enlargement procedure in Thailand.

Ubiribo, 43, popularly known as “Tiny,” “Denisi” and “Ego,” reportedly underwent the cosmetic procedure while on holiday in Bangkok with his wife, Zimbabwean fashion designer Danielle Simba Allen.

Findings from an inquest in the United Kingdom revealed that doctors injected about 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine into his penis at an unnamed Thai clinic in March.

Shortly after the procedure, Ubiribo and his wife reportedly returned to their Marriott hotel, where they went for a massage.

However, he reportedly complained of chest pain during the massage before collapsing and losing consciousness.

He was rushed to Sukhumvit Hospital, where medical personnel initially managed to communicate with him.

His wife reportedly informed the doctors about the recent penis filler injection, prompting concerns that the procedure could be connected to his condition.

Doctors suspected a pulmonary embolism and recommended further scans, but Ubiribo reportedly lost consciousness before the examination could be completed.

He was subsequently transferred to the intensive care unit, where medical personnel carried out prolonged cardiopulmonary resuscitation in an attempt to revive him.

He was pronounced dead in the early hours of March 6.

Postmortem Links Death to Filler Procedure

A subsequent postmortem examination conducted in the UK reportedly found material in Ubiribo’s lungs consistent with the hyaluronic acid used during the cosmetic procedure.

Pathologist John du Parcq told the inquest that the substance discovered in the lungs matched the material injected into Ubiribo during the treatment.

According to the pathologist, the findings supported the conclusion that the businessman suffered a pulmonary embolism associated with the cosmetic procedure.

The coroner, Jean Harkin, subsequently ruled that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism linked to the injection.

A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot or other material blocks a blood vessel supplying the lungs. The condition can cause sudden breathing difficulties, strain on the heart and, in severe cases, death.

Doctor Gives Medical History

During the inquest, information from Ubiribo’s London doctor showed that he had previously undergone joint surgeries and had been described as pre-diabetic and suffering from gout.

His doctor, however, reportedly said he had no other major medical conditions.

Penis fillers containing hyaluronic acid are promoted as a non-surgical option for increasing penile girth, but injectable cosmetic procedures can carry potentially serious complications.

Known for Luxury Lifestyle

Ubiribo was also known for documenting his luxurious lifestyle on social media, where he reportedly had about 185,000 Instagram followers.

Reports said he owned a home in Los Angeles valued at approximately $1.1 million and a London apartment reportedly worth about $600,000.

He married Allen in a lavish ceremony in 2022.

Following his death, Ubiribo was buried in London in a gold coffin, with reports claiming that the funeral cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Afrobeats star Davido, who was described as Ubiribo’s childhood friend, reportedly attended the funeral and paid tribute to him.

His death has renewed concerns about the potential risks associated with injectable cosmetic procedures after medical evidence presented at the inquest linked the treatment to the fatal complication.
