Folarin Calls For Probe Into Alleged Shooting At APC Unity Rally In Ogbomoso
The Oyo State leader of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Senator Teslim Folarin, has called for a full investigation into reports alleging that a commercial motorcyclist was shot during the All Progressives Congress (APC) unity rally held in Ogbomoso on Monday.
Reacting to the report, the former Senate Leader said neither the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, the APC nor the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu condone any form of lawlessness, violence or misconduct before, during or after political activities.
According to him, the APC unity rally in Ogbomoso was peaceful, orderly and successfully concluded, with no officially reported incident of violence at the venue.
However, given the seriousness of the allegation circulating in the public space, Folarin disclosed that he had formally requested a thorough investigation by relevant security agencies to determine what actually transpired.
He stressed that if any individual, regardless of status or political affiliation, is found to have acted unlawfully or engaged in criminal conduct, such a person must be prosecuted in line with the law.
Folarin maintained that criminality has no place in the APC, its rallies or Nigeria’s democratic process.
He explained that APC unity rallies are intended to promote peace, unity and democratic participation, not intimidation or violence.
The senator added that the Renewed Hope Agenda is firmly rooted in the rule of law, accountability and the protection of lives and property.
He also appealed to the public and the media to avoid speculation or premature conclusions while investigations are ongoing, warning against the politicisation or sensationalisation of security-related issues before facts are fully established.
Folarin reaffirmed that Oyo State must continue to serve as a model of peaceful political engagement, assuring residents that he would continue to work closely with security agencies to safeguard lives and property across the state.
