No fewer than 500 women, including petty traders, vulnerable and persons living with disabilities from various communities across Osun State, have received the recapitalisation grant of N50,000 each from Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative Economic Empowerment Programme.

During the programme, held at the office of the First Lady of Osun State , Government House , Osogbo, Chief Mrs Titilola Adeleke, Osun State First Lady, said the initiative is aimed at improving the living standard of vulnerable residents, particularly, women in the state.

Adeleke, who distributed the money to the beneficiaries on behalf of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, that the RHI is all about making every woman in Nigeria self-reliant, noting that it is being done by providing the beneficiaries with the wherewithal and conducive environment to be economically productive and employers of labour.

Adeleke, who said she met with the Nigerian First Lady recently at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) where they discussed about the women empowerment program, said the empowerment is the present administration continued commitment to drive economic growth towards a better life for families.

“We are all aware of the challenges faced by Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises, especially the petty traders, who form the backbone of our local economies. These challenges, however, have not deterred the strength of our women.

“When I met with the First Lady at a function at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, I told her about women empowerment Programme. She gave me N25 million to give to 500 women. APC also received their own for their people.”

She added, “We recognise that empowering women economically is not just a moral imperative, but a strategic one. When women thrive, their families thrive, and by extension, our communities and nation prosper.

Adeleke, however, enjoined the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money so as to help boosting their business.

Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Ogundele Nafisat expressed gratitude to Nigerian First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Osun State State First Lady, Chief Mrs Titilola Adeleke for counting them worthy of benefiting from the grant, promising to channel the money what is meant to be used for which is their business.
