Osun Poll: Uzodimma Charges APC SubC’ttees To Develop Winning Strategies

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Campaign Council for the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, has directed members of the council’s 12 subcommittees to immediately begin work and submit practical strategies aimed at securing victory for the party in the poll.

Governor Uzodinma gave the directive on Monday during a meeting of the campaign council in Abuja, stressing that the assignment before members was not a ceremonial engagement but a serious political mission focused solely on winning the Osun governorship election.

“The plan is to go and support our brothers and sisters in Osun State to win the forthcoming election. This meeting is not for merrymaking. It is not for any jamboree. It is for people to come and offer service,” he said.

The governor urged all subcommittees to meet between now and Thursday and submit their proposals and recommendations to the secretary of the campaign council, Senator Barau Jibrin, for consideration by the Central Working Committee.

According to him, every activity of the council must be geared towards a single objective.

“We have only one mission, to win the election. Everything can come after the elections. But the most important thing is things that will make us win the election properly,” he stated.

Uzodimma also directed chairmen of the various subcommittees to forward their resolutions and requests for support to the leadership of the council to enable them to carry out their assignments effectively.

He specifically tasked the Finance and Resource Mobilisation Subcommittee with coordinating and receiving contributions from party members and other supporters willing to support the APC campaign in Osun State.

The Imo governor further ruled out formal introductions during the meeting, noting that members were already familiar with one another as APC leaders and stakeholders whose names had been published by the party.

The APC had recently inaugurated a 276-member National Campaign Council and 12 specialised subcommittees to drive the campaign of its candidate in the Osun governorship election.

The council is chaired by Uzodinma, who is also Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum. Other top members include Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, who serve as co-chairmen.

Also on the council are the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, who serves as Deputy Chairman, and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who serves as Secretary.

The 12 subcommittees established by the party cover Election Planning and Management; Finance and Resource Mobilisation; Contact, Grassroots Engagement and Mobilisation; Logistics and Campaign Management; Monitoring and Compliance; Protocol; Media and Publicity; Security; Youth Mobilisation; Women Mobilisation; Special Interest (Persons with Disabilities) Mobilisation; and Secretariat Functions.

The APC leadership said the structures were put in place to ensure effective coordination and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the crucial governorship contest in Osun State.
