Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have abducted two residents of Ora-Igbomina, an Osun community located on the boundary with Kwara State.

According to some residents of the community, the perpetrators struck at some minutes to midnight on Sunday at a private residence along Aran-Orin Road, Papa, Ora-Igbomina and kidnapped the victims.

The latest abduction occurred less than two months after an ex-Customs officer, Emmanuel Owolabi, was kidnapped in front of his house in Ora by suspected bandits.

On December 15, 2025, some gun-wielding men attacked Ora and abducted Owolabi.

He was, however, freed on January 12 at Oro Ago, a community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, after a ransom said to be in millions was paid by his family.

A resident, simply identified as Mulikat, while speaking with journalists on Monday, said the victims were abducted around 11:30pm by gunmen suspected to be “bandits, who shot into the air before dragging the victims into the bush.”

She added, “We heard gunshots around 11:30pm. The abductors went into a house along Aran Orin road and picked up the two men. Some men ran after the perpetrators but they could not follow them into the bush. The abductors are suspected bandits.”

When contacted for confirmation, the Police Public Relations Officer of Osun Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the command had commenced a search and rescue operation to free the victims.

He further said, “The incident occurred at around 11:45 p.m on Sunday. Our men who went for patrol but went back to their base when the rain started to fall. It was during that period that those people perpetrated that evil act.

“Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi were abducted. The search and rescue teams moved in immediately after the report got to us. They have been combing the area.”
