Osun: Court Remands Fake Herbalist Over N12.5million Fraud

A Chief Magistrate’s court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State on Monday remanded a fake herbalist, Sulemon Ridwan, 31, for allegedlly duping his victim N12.5million
The defendant was docked before Chief Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara on three counts bordering on fraud and stealing
The prosecutor, Elisha Olusegun told the court that the defendant under false pretence of preventing his victim, Mufutau Mosuru from being killed spiritually by his mother, collected the stated sum for the performance of sacrifices.
Ridwan, who was employed by the complainant to dig a well at his house, was also said to have stolen the said amount.
While disclosing that the defendant committed the offence between February and March 15, 2025, Olusegun told the court that the offences committed were contrary to section 409, 390(9) and 5(1) of the state criminal law
However, the defendant, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
Upon the Magistrate’s probe, the investigating police officer, one Inspector felix told the court that the defendant was hired to dig well in the complainant house after which he, claimed to see a vision that his mother wanted to kill him and should pay him to perform ritual to avert the death.
Thereafter, Dr Ayilara ruled that the defendant be remanded in Ilesa correctional centre and adjourned the matter till March 26, 2026 for further hearing
