Alli Urges Nigerians to Renew Faith in Nigeria, Backs Tinubu’s Reforms

The Oyo State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has urged Nigerians to renew their faith in the country and work collectively towards building a united, peaceful and prosperous nation.

Alli made the call in his Independence Day message issued in Ibadan on Thursday to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, describing the occasion as an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of the nation’s founding fathers and the collective responsibility of citizens to sustain national development.

He said Nigeria’s challenges could be overcome through responsible leadership, patriotism, unity and the collective commitment of citizens to the country’s progress.

The APC governorship candidate also called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration in its efforts to reposition the economy through ongoing reforms, increase productivity and create a foundation for sustainable development.

“Independence Day is not merely a celebration of freedom from colonial rule; it is a solemn reminder of our collective responsibility to preserve, strengthen and improve the Nigeria handed over to us by our founding fathers.

“We must never lose faith in Nigeria. Despite the challenges confronting the nation, our country remains endowed with enormous human and natural resources capable of making it one of the most prosperous nations in the world,” he said.

Alli urged the Federal Government to sustain efforts to translate economic reforms and stabilisation measures into increased production, investment and shared prosperity for Nigerians.

He also appealed to the people of Oyo State to support Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, arguing that closer cooperation between the Federal Government and an APC-led administration in the state could improve coordination of development programmes.

The governorship candidate said his ambition to lead Oyo State was driven by a commitment to purposeful, inclusive and people-oriented governance.

He listed education, security, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, youth empowerment, economic development, improved welfare and local government autonomy among the priorities of his proposed administration if elected.

According to him, Oyo State possesses significant potential in agriculture, commerce, industry, tourism and human capital development, but requires deliberate policies to translate these advantages into better living conditions and economic opportunities for residents.

“We are seeking the mandate to build an Oyo State where our children can receive quality education, our farmers can produce without fear, our young people can find opportunities and our communities can benefit from meaningful infrastructure.

“Our campaign is not about political power for its own sake. It is about service, development and restoring greater confidence in the ability of government to improve the lives of our people,” Alli said.

He further urged APC members across the state’s 33 local government areas and 351 wards to put aside their differences and work together towards the success of the party’s candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Alli said the party’s candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and Oyo State House of Assembly should work as a united team, with a shared commitment to advancing the interests of the state.

He congratulated President Tinubu, the Federal Government, state governments, other tiers of government and Nigerians on the Independence Day celebration.

The APC governorship candidate also prayed for peace, security and prosperity across the country, urging citizens to remain hopeful and committed to nation-building.
