OSPOLY Food Science Students Emerge First Runner-Up at Southwest NAFSTS Quiz Competition
The Food Science and Technology (FST) Department of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (OSPOLY), has recorded an impressive academic feat by emerging 1st Runner-Up at the 9th Nigeria Association of Food Science and Technology Students, NAFSTS Southwest Quiz Competition held at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ikole Campus, Ekiti State.
The event, which brought together top-performing students from renowned institutions including the University of Ibadan (UI), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), LAUTECH, FUNAAB, MAPOLY, and others, saw OSPOLY stand out among some of the brightest minds in Food Science and Technology across the region.
Represented by Adekilekun Rukayat Titilayo and Adebayo Tolulope Fathia, both HND 1 students of the FST Department, the team showcased exceptional brilliance, courage, and composure throughout the competition, earning them second place and widespread commendation.
In a joint congratulatory message, the President of the Faculty of Science Students Association (FASSA), Hon. Comr. Babatunde Bais Temidire (Bizzy Brain), and the President of the Nigeria Association of Food Science and Technology Students (NAFSTS), OSPOLY Chapter, Hon. Comr. Amos Oluwadamilare David (Drey Black), expressed deep pride in the department’s achievement.
“This remarkable performance is a testament to the strength, focus, and academic excellence of our students. Rukayat and Tolulope have not only made the department proud but also inspired their peers to aim higher,” the statement read.
The student leaders described the win as more than just a trophy, but a motivation for continued pursuit of excellence in science and technology education at OSPOLY.
The NAFSTS Southwest Conference is an annual academic gathering that fosters collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange among food science students across tertiary institutions in the region.
