Osun Assembly Passes Electricity, Customary Courts Bills
The Osun State House of Assembly has passed the Electricity Bill, 2025, along with amendments to the laws establishing the Customary Court of Appeal and District Customary Courts in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Olamide Tiamiyu, and made available to journalists in Osogbo.
The Electricity Bill, an executive-sponsored legislation seeking to establish the Osun State Electricity Regulatory Commission, was passed during Monday’s plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun.
The bill successfully scaled its third reading following the presentation of the report of the House Committee on Water Resources and Energy by its Chairman, Hon. Taofiq Olayiwola. The motion for its passage was moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Kofoworola Adewunmi.
In a related development, the Assembly also approved amendments to the Osun State Customary Court of Appeal Law and the Osun State District Customary Courts Law.
The motions for the amendments were seconded by Hon. Tajudeen Adeyemi, Hon. Sikiru Bajepade, and Hon. Folorunsho Ogundare.
The proposed changes were unanimously adopted through a voice vote conducted by the Speaker.
