Uproar In Ibadan As trigger-happy Police Officer Kills WAEC Candidate
A tragic incident occurred in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, on Tuesday when a student on his way to sit for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams was fatally struck by a stray bullet.
According to eyewitnesses, the bullet was fired by a police officer involved in a high-speed chase of a fleeing vehicle along the Gbagi Market Road.
The shot reportedly hit the student, who was on a motorcycle with his twin brother.
The victim was immediately rushed to Welfare Hospital by bystanders but was declared dead on arrival.
In a show of outrage and grief, protesters carried the student’s body to the Oyo State Secretariat in an attempt to draw the attention of Governor Seyi Makinde and demand justice.
As of the time of this report, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Adewale Osifeso, had not responded to phone calls or messages seeking comment on the incident.
