Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reconciled stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife Federal Constituency after a prolonged internal crisis threatened party unity.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor, at a reconciliation meeting in Osogbo, urged members to resist what he described as opposition-backed attempts to sow discord within the PDP.

Last week, some PDP leaders in Ife passed a vote of no confidence on Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, Chairman of Osun State University Governing Council Prof. Wale Oladipo, and PDP Ife East Chairman Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde over alleged anti-party activities.

The reconciliation session was attended by top leaders including Deputy Governor Adewusi, Deputy Senate Minority Leader Senator Lere Oyewumi, State Chairman Hon. Sunday Bisi, Secretary to the State Government Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, Chief of Staff Hon. Kazeem Akinleye, Chairman of the Commissioners’ Forum Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, and other stalwarts.

At the end of the meeting, stakeholders agreed to put the dispute behind them and collectively resolved to forgive one another in order to forge unity for electoral victory in 2026.

Governor Adeleke described the disagreement as the result of communication gaps and external plots to destabilise the PDP in Ife. He commended the leaders for their openness and brotherhood, urging them to return to grassroots mobilisation.

“Ile Ife is a PDP territory. Go back and sustain the tempo. Our administration has done much for Ifeland and will still do more. I commend the elders, leaders, chairmen, and party operatives. Continue working for the party’s victory,” the governor charged.

Also speaking, PDP State Chairman Hon. Sunday Bisi described the no-confidence episode as a family affair. He said all issues had been ironed out and resolved that statutory meetings for mobilisation should reconvene, while members must shun acts capable of being misinterpreted as anti-party activity.
