Wike’s PDP Faction Postpones Ekiti Guber Primary
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has postponed the Ekiti State governorship primary earlier scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025.
In a letter signed on Thursday by the acting National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, and the National Secretary , Samuel Anyanwu, the PDP informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the development, attributing the postponement to logistics challenges.
The letter, addressed to INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, reads, “We wish to inform you that the PDP Ekiti State Congress and Governorship Primary slated for November 8, 2025, has been postponed due to logistics reasons constraining this exercise.
“A new date will be formally communicated when decided. Please accept the assurances of my esteemed regards. Kindly refer to our earlier letter to the commission on this subject matter.”
The faction, led by Mohammed and Anyanwu, is one of the two opposing camps within the PDP, with this group being aligned with Wike’s loyalists.
By INEC guidelines , political parties have until November 11, 2025, to conclude their governorship primaries and submit the names of their candidates.
