Fallen Osun Amotekun Officer Laid To Rest
Officer Lamidi Abiodun of the Osun Amotekun Corps was laid to rest in his hometown of Kuta following his tragic death in an ambush carried out by armed assailants in the Papa area of Iwo.
The solemn burial ceremony marked the end of a life dedicated to public service and the protection of his community. Officer Abiodun is being remembered as a courageous and selfless defender of peace and safety.
He was killed on Wednesday while responding to a distress call from farmers in the Papa Farm area, who reported an active attack on their land. Acting swiftly, Amotekun operatives, in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), mobilized to the location to contain the threat and safeguard residents.
Tragically, upon arrival, the team was ambushed by gunmen believed to be under the command of a notorious gang leader, Akeem Olofa. Though initial gunfire did not claim his life, Officer Abiodun was fatally struck in the head with a machete, dying instantly at the scene.
A proud son of Kuta, Officer Abiodun was more than a security agent he was a patriot who embodied commitment, bravery, and a deep sense of duty to his people. His ultimate sacrifice stands as a testament to the risks borne by those who serve on the front lines of community defense.
The leadership of the Osun Amotekun Corps was present at the funeral to pay their final respects and honor the memory of a fallen hero.
