Osun New Era Lions Club, Osogbo finances Cataract Surgery for Visually Impaired resident
As part of its October “Vision/Sight” outreach, the Osun New Era Lions Club supported Dupeola Lawal, a visually impaired resident from Ajewole Area, Osogbo, by funding her cataract surgery after meeting her at a local eye clinic on Wednesday, 30th October, 2024.
The initiative is part of the club’s October “Vision on Sight” outreach, which aims to assist vulnerable individuals in accessing essential eye care.
Lion Ikeoluwa Adeoti Aina, the Second Vice President of Osun New Era Lions Club, stated that the outreach aligns with their commitment to supporting those in need.
She explained that the club identified Mrs. Dupeola Lawal during a visit to a local eye clinic, where they were seeking individuals requiring urgent assistance.
According to her, the Second Vice President of Osun New Era Lions Club, the club’s mission involves actively seeking out vulnerable individuals who are in dire need of assistance.
“We arrived early at the clinic with no specific target, but our goal was to find and help the most vulnerable. When we saw her struggling to find her way, it became clear she needed urgent help,” Ikeoluwa stated.
However, Ikeoluwa explained that the cataract surgery, now fully funded, is expected to take place within weeks. “She’s currently undergoing the necessary lab tests, and with the cataract operation scheduled soon, we’re hopeful she’ll regain her vision.”
She also urged the government and community members to collaborate in supporting vulnerable individuals. “Sight is vital, and there are many people out there who need help. We encourage others to identify those in need and lend a helping hand where they can,” Ikeoluwa added.
While appreciating the initiative, the beneficiary, Dupeola Lawal expressed deep gratitude towards the Lions Club for their support, praying for blessings on the organization and the members who funded her surgery.
The aged woman said: “I can’t thank them enough. They have given me hope to sight. May God bless them all,” she said emotionally.
Later, today, Thursday, 31st October, 2024, members of New Era Lions Club joined other Lions Club at LCI outreach at LCI Diabetes Centre inside Cottage hospital at Ede.
