Tinubu’s Proposed 400 Borehole Project Preferable Than Presidential Jet – Obi

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party Mr. Peter Obi, said the decision of President Bola Tinubu to construct 400 boreholes nationwide, in memory of his mother Alhaja Abibatu Magaji, is a commendable initiative.

Obi in a statement by spokesman of Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) Dr. Yunusa Tanko, noted that at last, the president has heeded his call to join him in ensuring the provision of boreholes across the country, for the downtrodden.

He stated Tinubu’s planned borehole project aligned with his principle to attend to the needs of the poor.

The former presidential candidate further advised “that this new line of thinking from the president should be reflected in the government projects, which at the moment are not addressing the yearnings of the poor in our midst.”

He described as “shameful that in a nation where millions have no access to clean drinking water, millions of children are out of school and have no access to decent healthcare with millions of youths out of jobs, yet the government is placing priority on bogus projects like coastal highway, mansions, flyovers and buying of jets etc as a priority.”

Obi added that “The president’s new spirit of charity, if it continues, will help in pulling many Nigerians out of poverty, if it’s diversified.”

The former Anambra State governor had installed some boreholes in some Northern states of Nasarawa, Bauchi, Kano, Kaduna, Kebbi, Niger and Sokoto where there acute water scarcity.
