The Chairman, Ona-Ara Local Government, Hon.Sanusi Musibau Adesina popularly called “Shaba” has called on the people of the area to vote massively for the Peoples Democratic Party chairmanship and councillorship candidates in the forthcoming April 27 local government elections, saying that the council has witnessed more development, peace and progress under the PDP leadership than any other political party in the state.

The Council boss made the appeal on Wednesday at a Ramadan lecture and distribution of food items such as rice, garri and indomie noodles as a way of providing assistance for Muslims who are currently observing the Ramadan fast.

“As local government election draws near, I urged the people of our local government to vote our party, the PDP that is bringing succor to the people of the state and our council area for continuity and progress. He said.

He commended the Seyi Makinde led administration for the unprecedented infrastructural development and masses oriented programmes aimed at alleviating the hardship among the masses in the state.

Hon Adesina explained that the Ramadan lecture is an annual event organised by the council for all residents of the area irrespective of their political inclinations.

He said beneficiaries of the food items comprises traders, artisans, religious organizations, farmers and traditional heads among others in the Local Government, adding that the programme is a replica of what the state government is embarking on to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on the people.

A guest lecturer lecturer at the event, who spoke on a topic ” Who Is A Muslim” Dr Ibrahim Adelani, noted that a good Muslim must possess and exhibit traits of Prophet Muhammad (may be peace unto him).

Dr Adelani stressed that a good Muslim is someone who always want and seek peace within his immediate environment and always stand for social justice, fairness and equity.

He further said, a good Muslim is someone that want progress for his fellow man, relatives, friends, colleagues at work is a good Muslim.

Another guest lecturer, Alhaji Kamil Adewale Adepoju , who spoke on the topic”The Responsibilities Of The Spouses” said the responsibilities of the husband are entrenched in the rights of the wife and vise -versa.

“Each and everyone one of us should perform our responsibilities and partners will be be able to get their rights even before asking for it.”

Adepoju pointed out that a lot of families have been separated as a result of this stressing that when the family is stable, the society is better for it.

In his remarks, the Deputy Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Muhammad Fadeyi, urged Muslims to adhere strictly to the dictates of Islamic religion particularly, at this point in time that the country is going through insecurity and hunger.

“This period is for sober reflection and self denial for us Muslims, to me it’s for spiritual growth, and my message to our people is that they should pray for the Executive Governor of the state, ‘Seyi Makinde and pray for Ona -Ara local government to witness more growth.” He said.

Commenting on the programme, the Babaloja Ona-Ara General, Chief Adebayo Moradeyo, urged Muslims to fear Allah put to practice in their daily lives the lessons imbibed during the Ramadan period.

He lauded the achievements of the Chairman of the council Hon Musibau Adesina for the development projects he put in place to better the lots of the people in the area such as creation of markets, drilling of boreholes, construction of toilets among others.

He solicited the cooperation of the people of the area to support the current administration and massively vote in candidates of the ruling PDP in the forthcoming local government elections.

Also, speaking, a former chairman of the local government who is currently, a full time Commissioner, Local Government Service Commission, Secretariat, Ibadan, Hon Akeem Oke, described the Ramadan lecture as thought provoking, as it enlightened spouses about family living.

Hon Oke who also called on the people of the area to vote massively for the PDP candidates in the coming council polls, said Hon. Sanusi Musibau Adesina has done his best for the local government for posterity to judge.

In their goodwill messages,a former president of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, Chief Bayo Oyero who is the Father of the Day at the occasion as well as the Mother of the day, Alhaja Lateefat Ibrahim both urged Muslims to use the Ramadan period to engage in good works

They urged spouses to live in the fear of Allah as everyone will give account of their deeds the the creator.

The event was witnessed by various Muslim women organization, market men and women, traditional rulers, politicians, part loyalists, among others.
