EFCC Recovers Cars, Laptops, Phones From Internet Fraudsters In Onitsha
The Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered eight luxury cars from suspected Internet fraudsters in Onitsha, Anambra State.
CityMirrorNews reports that the anti-graft agency apprehended a total of 36 suspected internet fraudsters during operations in Onitsha.
The suspects were arrested at various locations following actionable intelligence on their alleged involvement in online criminal activities.
According to EFCC officials, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects impersonated foreign nationals on social media platforms to defraud unsuspecting victims.
Aside from the cars, other Items recovered during the arrests include high-end mobile phones, and sophisticated laptops used in their fraudulent operations.
The EFCC has assured that once investigations are complete, the suspects will be charged to court.
According to the commission, this operation is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to curb the rising wave of cybercrime in Nigeria.
