Shooting In Pennsylvania : America Has No Moral Standing To Dictate Democratic Value In Africa-ADAPHAI
A leading Civil Society Organization in Nigeria, Advocacy for Advancement of Peace &Harmony in Africa Initiative (ADAPHAI) has berated the recent violence in the American political environment, where the former President, Donald Trump and several others were shot during campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
ADAPHAI, in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Sulaimon Suberu, and made available to CityMirrorNews in Abuja, described America as pretentious nation without any guiding ideology, adding that the country has no moral fiber to dictate democratic value and ethos in Africa.
It said the unfortunate event in Pennsylvania, with casualty and where many people were fatally wounded exposed the political atmosphere in America as being fragile and vulnerable to political violence and manipulation.
According to the group, the neocolonial agenda of the West, in which America is spearheading in all the developing countries of the world, especially Africa is totally antithetical to the principles of free will and liberty, but a surreptitious antics of exploitation and oppression.
ADAPHAI, therefore, called on African leaders to work towards building a home-grown political ideology in tandem with the peculiar sociopolitical realities of the continent to guarantee speedy development in all fronts.
The statement reads in part:” How can anyone explain the degree of violence and gangsterism that have characterized the presidential election in America, despite the country’s claim of advancement in democratic governance and civil administration.
“It is obvious that the country in truth and indeed accommodates a large percentage of desperate politicians who do not believe in the rule of law nor the spirit sportsmanship but the crude mentality of political chicanery and manipulation.
“It is now crystal clear that a country like America and its likes in the West have no moral standing to dictate democratic governance to the people of Africa and any other developing democracies for that matter.
“An assassination attempt on the life of the former President, who is also a contender in the election is the height of gangsterism in politics and violent ideology of sort, it is unbecoming of a country that prides itself as leading democratic nation”.
