Tragedy As Truck Crushes Two Poly Students To Death

It was a black Monday for members of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic community in Ikot Osurua after a truck lost control and crushed two students of the institution to death on the ever-busy Aba Road, Ikot Ekpene.

Also killed by the rampaging truck was the commercial Motorcycle operator conveying the two friends to the campus.

The sad incident occurred yesterday evening around the popular Ikot Inyang junction, a few meters away from the school in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area according to eye witness was so fatal that the trio died instantly

According to Daniel Ukpong a student of the polytechnic, “The truck driver lost control while on high speed and rammed into the girls killing on a commercial Motorcycle killing all of them on the spot.

Their sad incident has left colleagues sobbing uncontrollably when our Correspondent visited the area while the remains of the trio have evacuated to a mortuary from the scene.

The deceased students, Abasifreke Okon and Irene Edwin from Ibesikpo Asutan were in Science Laboratory Technology department and described as “besties and inseparable twins” were in thier final year.

Our Correspondent also gathered that the exams scheduled to start next week in the school has been postponed.
